Wildwood, Florida, is a city on the rise, where rich history meets exciting growth. Known as the "Crossroads of Florida," Wildwood has long been a hub of connection, rooted in its legacy of rail and transportation. The city is home to 36,783 residents.
Wildwood's proximity to The Villages, one of the fastest-growing communities in the nation, has positioned the city as a center for opportunity, innovation, and expansion.
What makes Wildwood truly unique is its balance: a community that embraces new development while maintaining its authentic character. With a diverse population, a growing business sector, and a strong sense of place, Wildwood offers the best of both tradition and progress.
Wildwood's growth has brought both opportunity and complexity. With the city's proximity to The Villages, staff have seen increased development, rising resident expectations, and a greater need for proactive service delivery.
As Tara Tradd, Code Compliance Manager, explained, city leadership recognized that moving toward a more transformational model in code enforcement would require better tools for communication, education, and real-time response.
"Implementing a platform like GOGov allows us to shift from reactive enforcement to proactive engagement, improving both efficiency and community trust."
Wildwood first learned about GOGov through the Florida Association of Code Enforcement. The platform stood out for its ease of use, quick implementation, and ability to streamline communication between residents and staff.
"It stood out because of its ease of use, quick implementation, and ability to streamline communication between residents and staff. The platform provided a clear way to improve efficiency, track cases, and enhance responsiveness without adding unnecessary complexity."
Wildwood's code enforcement team relies on GOGov's code enforcement software every day for case tracking, mapping, reporting, and notices.
Consolidating these functions into a single platform has made a significant difference for the department. A process that was once tedious and fragmented is now streamlined from start to finish.
"Having everything in one place has made our team significantly more efficient. What was once a tedious and fragmented administrative process is now streamlined, and something we actually enjoy, allowing us to better serve Wildwood."
Since implementing GOGov, Wildwood's code enforcement staff have seen major improvements in the quality and completeness of their case files. Information that used to take time to track down is now easy to input and retrieve, and reports come out clear and organized.
"Our case files are much more complete, and it's incredibly easy to input and pull information when needed. The reports are clear, organized, and easy to understand."
One feature has stood out in particular: the ability to attach photos directly to notices and case files. Staff say it adds a professional touch to their documentation and helps tell the full story of each case.
"We especially love the photo feature. It adds a professional touch to notices and case file reports and really helps tell the story of each case."
Preparing case files for hearings, once a heavier lift, is now far simpler and more efficient, a change that has made a meaningful difference in the department's day-to-day work.
Wildwood's code enforcement team now has strong confidence in the reports the system generates from their imported data. Instead of digging through multiple files to piece together information, staff can turn to a single source of truth.
"We have great confidence in the report we can generate with the data we have imported into the system. We are no longer looking into several files for information; we just go to GOGov, and everything we need is there."
To track performance over time, Wildwood produces quarterly reports covering case counts by type, made possible by GOGov's built-in reporting tools.
"We put out quarterly reports that include all case counts by type. The report feature allows us to compile that data quickly and efficiently."
Tara Tradd's advice to other municipalities considering GOGov comes with an open invitation.
"Come visit us in Wildwood, and we would be happy to let you try it out!"
