Attica, Indiana, may be a small town, but it’s making big strides in modern communication with the launch of its city-branded mobile app, "Attica Connect." Nestled along the Wabash River, this tight-knit community of 3,500 residents needed a more efficient way to keep everyone informed. By partnering with GOGov, Attica has transformed how it engages with citizens, ensuring timely notifications and easy access to important city information. From weather updates to trash pickup schedules, "Attica Connect" has quickly become an essential tool for staying connected in this charming small town.
Attica is a small third-class city in the state of Indiana, with about 3500 residents. Located along the scenic banks of the Wabash River, Attica, Indiana embodies the charm and warmth of iconic American small towns. With a close-knit community where everyone knows and supports one another like family, it offers a unique blend of rich history and forward-thinking innovation. Nature lovers will find abundant outdoor spots to explore, while families can enjoy first-class educational opportunities and a variety of local businesses. Attica provides the perfect balance of small-town living and convenient access to nearby cities, being just 20 miles from Lafayette/West Lafayette, 60 miles from Indianapolis, and 130 miles from Chicago.
The city faced challenges in effectively communicating with its citizens and sought a solution that could reach everyone directly through their cell phones. After careful consideration, they decided that developing a city-branded mobile app would be the most efficient way to share important information with the community. A key focus during the development process was ensuring that the app would be user-friendly, especially for senior citizens. The city prioritized making the app easy to download and navigate, ensuring that residents of all ages could benefit from its features.
To achieve this, Attica conducted thorough research to find the best solution for developing their app and discovered GOGov's Citizen Notifications Solution. GOGov provided exactly what Attica needed—while other companies pushed unnecessary add-ons like website rebranding, GOGov offered a streamlined, municipality-branded mobile app. The app enabled the city to consolidate all its important information in one accessible place and provided the ability to send timely notifications directly to its citizens, ensuring effective communication with the entire community. In 2024, Attica officially launched “Attica Connect” with GOGov!
Attica has been successfully using its app, "Attica Connect," to send timely push notifications that keep the community informed about key updates, such as changes in trash pickup schedules due to holidays, local car accidents, construction projects, and other events that impact daily life. The city has also taken advantage of the app's "applets," which allow for quick access to important links and resources. For instance, the app features a live weather stream from the local high school, boosting awareness of the channel among residents. By consolidating all this useful information in one easy-to-use platform, "Attica Connect" has enhanced community engagement and kept people more connected with what’s happening in their city.
Since launching the app in March 2024, the Mayor of Attica, Larry Grant, has been approached by citizens, receiving a lot of positive feedback from the public.

Mayor Grant plans to utilize the push notifications feature to keep the community informed about an upcoming fall festival in Attica. With streets being closed for a parade and various activities taking place throughout the weekend, this feature will be essential for effectively communicating important details to residents. Additionally, the city intends to continue leveraging the app as a valuable information resource and will actively market it to the public to ensure widespread use.
When asked about Mayor Grants experience with working with GOGov, he said,
