The City of Pickens is modernizing how it handles code enforcement with new software designed specifically for municipal operations. Developed by GOGov, the system replaces manual tracking methods with an integrated digital platform that streamlines everything from initial violation reports to final case resolution. In addition to Code Enforcement, Pickens also launched a municipality mobile app, Pocket Pickens, powered by GOGov.
Code enforcement officers in Pickens now have access to a comprehensive software solution that handles the complexities of managing multiple cases, tracking compliance timelines, and maintaining detailed documentation. The system was built with input from Pickens staff to ensure it matches real-world workflows and addresses the specific challenges officers face daily.
The code enforcement software includes several key features designed to improve efficiency:
GOGov worked directly with the City of Pickens to configure the software according to their specific requirements. Rather than implementing a one-size-fits-all solution, the system was adapted to match Pickens' existing codes, processes, and reporting needs. This collaborative approach ensures officers can adopt the new system quickly without having to change established procedures.
The user-friendly interface requires minimal training, allowing code enforcement staff to focus on their primary responsibility—ensuring community compliance—rather than struggling with complicated software.
Before implementing the new software, code enforcement officers spent significant time on administrative tasks—filing paperwork, updating spreadsheets, and manually tracking case progress. The automated system handles these routine tasks, freeing officers to spend more time in the field addressing actual violations.
Automated record-keeping ensures that every inspection, communication, and action is documented consistently. This creates a reliable audit trail while reducing the risk of missing information or procedural errors that can complicate enforcement actions.
More efficient code enforcement operations directly benefit residents. The City of Pickens can now respond to violation reports more quickly, track cases more effectively, and ensure consistent follow-through. This leads to faster resolution of issues that impact neighborhood quality and safety.
The software's reporting capabilities also help the city be more proactive. By identifying patterns in violations, Pickens can address systemic issues and allocate prevention resources more effectively.
