About Florence Township

Florence Township is a community of roughly 12,800 residents in Burlington County, New Jersey, set along the Delaware River between Trenton and Philadelphia. Incorporated in 1872 and named for Florence, Italy, the township is home to the Village of Roebling, a planned company town built beginning in 1904 by John A. Roebling's Sons Company, the firm that manufactured the wire rope for the Brooklyn Bridge. The Roebling Historic District was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1978, and the restored 1907 Main Gate Building now houses the Roebling Museum.
