About Garrett, Indiana
Garrett is a city of about 6,500 residents (2020 Census) in DeKalb County in northeast Indiana, just north of Fort Wayne. Founded in 1875 when the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad reached the area, the city was named for B&O president John W. Garrett and grew up as a division point on the railroad's Chicago line. Today Garrett celebrates that railroad heritage while offering a close-knit, small-town community to residents and visitors alike.
