About Meadville
Meadville is a city of roughly 13,000 residents and the county seat of Crawford County, Pennsylvania, situated on French Creek about 87 miles north of Pittsburgh. Founded in 1788, it is the oldest settlement in northwestern Pennsylvania and is home to Allegheny College, established in 1815. Meadville was long known as "Zipper City" for the slide-fastener manufacturing that anchored its economy from the 1920s through the mid-1980s.
